The client of this project desired a house that is flexible enough to allow it’s usage to be changed with ease over time according to the feng shui doctrines. As a result, we utilized modular design principles to split the plot of buildable land by producing a cube, then splicing by 3 on each side, producing the modular spaces for the rooms. This cube was then decompartmentalized and rearranged to produce the spaces that comprise the house. The stairwell that connects all of the floors runs from floor to ceiling to magnify the spatial characteristics of the home by allowing the residents to view the entire height of the house. As a result, the modular design of the house allows the owner to easily rearrange the use of each space to fit the needs of the feng shui doctrines.
